Paving Services That Contractors Can Provide For Their Clients

Posted on

Asphalt pavement is a durable solution for parking lots and driveways. To keep the asphalt in good condition, it will need to have some work done to it periodically. For anyone that needs to maintain a driveway or parking area that is paved with asphalt, there are three paving services that they may be especially likely to need.

Removing Damaged Sections Of The Asphalt

Damage occurring to portions of the asphalt can be an issue that many people will experience with their pavement. In some cases, the damage may be widespread enough to require the entire asphalt to be resurfaced or even replaced. However, damage that is limited to smaller areas may be repaired with more limited work. For example, an asphalt contractor will be able to cut out the damaged section of the asphalt so that it can be replaced. This type of limited repair can avoid the risk of the damage spreading, and it can also restore the appearance of the parking area or driveway.

Addressing Low Areas In The Pavement

Over time, some of the areas on the pavement may have the tendency of becoming lower than the rest of the asphalt. Often, this can be the result of the soil settling under the weight of the pavement, but it can also result from erosion or the asphalt becoming compressed. Once low areas start to form in the asphalt, it can trap water in the form of puddles. Not surprisingly, this moisture exposure can rapidly degrade the asphalt so that it is prone to cracking or experiencing other problems that could impact the integrity of the asphalt. Luckily, there are options that can be used to level out the areas of the asphalt that have become lower. In extreme cases, it may even be possible to fill these areas with additional asphalt to even them out. However, if the problem is due to erosion occurring, this will need to be mitigated to prevent the sagging problems from returning.

The Application Of Asphalt Seal Coats

Seal coating the asphalt is a type of work that many individuals may not always appreciate. More specifically, this can greatly extend the life of the asphalt by making it more durable against exposure to the elements. A seal coat is able to protect the asphalt against exposure to rain and ultraviolet light. For those in cold climate areas, the coating may also be able to protect the asphalt against wear from deicing chemicals.
